- It developed strategies for implementing the Arizona Centennial program with a vigilant eye on the importance of leaving a legacy.
- It recognized historical research, interpretation and presentation as a valuable and necessary component to the 100-year commemoration.
- It sparked a new creative energy and a desire to see a centennial program that offers both traditional and innovative opportunities for the State of Arizona.
- It put into motion future actions that ensure a continuation of the work that began at the workshop
SEVERAL PRINCIPLES OF THE ARIZONA CENTENNIAL EMERGED DURING THE MAY WORKSHOP:
- The Arizona Centennial looks "Beyond the 5 C's" to all of the rich history that tells our story.
- The Arizona Centennial is more than 1912; it is about who we were before statehood, the commemoration of statehood, how we have developed since statehood, and where we are going in the next 100 years.
- The Arizona Centennial incorporates legacy features, from curriculum development to new research to establishing heritage areas, into the programmatic construction.
- The Arizona Centennial reaches all citizens of the state. Arizonans "Meet Arizona History Wherever They Are."
- The Arizona Centennial is Inclusive of all citizens of the state. It is an important moment in time when everyone celebrates being Arizonans; when all citizens call Arizona their "home."
